Q: What does membership cost and how do I join or renew membership? Annual dues are $60 per couple and are due in January. New members that do not join in January pay a prorated amount of $5 per month for the remainder of the year. To join or renew, you may download the membership application here. The completed application along with your memebership dues payment can be mailed to the address on the application or brought with you to the next CMD event. Q: What type of activities do you sponsor? Our members are the ones who come up with the ideas for our activities. You can simply suggest an activity, or you can be a Host Couple for an activity. Here is a partial list of Couples Metro Dallas events: Monthly Anniversary events:
Extra Events:
A Host Couple is a member couple who decide to host an event, be it in their home or in a public location. Their responsibilities are few, and the rewards are great. They simply set up the event, inform the Hospitality Couple of the schedule and greet people as they arrive. (Of course, hosting a monthly event involves a bit more.) Any member couple can host any type of event. Q: How do I host a CMD event?Hosting an event is easy. First you will need to call, email, or talk to the Events Couple see if the date you have in mind is open. The calendar is published in the monthly newsletter as well as here on the website, but it is always a good idea to check with the Events Couple to be sure the date is still available. The Events Couple can also help you with ideas on event planning. If the date is open, the Events Couple will add it to the calendar. You will then need to write a short article describing your event to be sent to the Media Couple and Web Services Couple. They will then announce the event in the upcoming newsletter and on the website. In order to make it into the newsletter, events should be planned no later than the 20th of the preceding month. Q: How large of an event should I plan?Smaller Events are important too! The large membership of Couples Metro Dallas makes it impossible for many members to host such a large group at their home. But there are still many opportunities throughout the year for hosting smaller events. There are open weekends every month when nothing is scheduled, and it is perfectly acceptable to plan an event and limit the attendance to a small number of people. You might like to host a movie night, or game night, a theme dinner party, or have a pizza party where the couples order pizza after everyone has arrived. Or, you might organize a movie night at a local theatre, dinner out at a favorite restaurant, or a day trip to a theme park or area attraction. Hosting a smaller event is less work that a major one and is lots of fun for everyone. We hope you will give it a try. Just contact our Events Couple to get your event on the calendar. Q: We may not have time to attend everything, or some functions just may not be to our liking. Is that OK?No problem! You are under no obligation to attend any specific event or any certain number of events during the year. You choose the ones you want to attend, and at which you think would have the most fun. A calendar of events is published each month in the newsletter you receive as a member of Couples Metro Dallas, and can also be found on this website. Q: I am still in the closet at work. I really can't afford to be identified in public. You have NOTHING to worry about. Couples Metro Dallas respects the privacy of our members. The only people to have your full name and address are the Board of Directors, and then your information is only used for internal mailing purposes. Only first names are used in the newsletter, and your private information is never given out to anyone. Pictures may be used in the newsletter or on the website only with your express written permission. You are under no obligation to attend public events at which CMD might make an appearance. |
